Katy's Computer Tote

Katy decided that she needed a computer tote that was easily accessorized with black. So I found this wonderful decorator fabric at Wal-Mart of all places (back when they still carried fabric) and it was just a dollar a yard. It is shiny and the graphics are wonderful. If you go further into this blog, you will see that Katy was kissed by a giraffe. She has a fondness for them and this fabric was the perfect choice. I had no pattern but knew that it needed to fit her Apple laptop. It needed to be quite sturdy, so I used Peltex for the interfacing and fused heavy duty Heat 'n Bond on the Giraffe side. The front pocket has a zipper closure and that was fun trying to figure out how to sew half onto the tote and the other half on the pocket. I put a second pocket on top of the first and then finished off the top with heavy duty black fabric - probably chino or something like it. She has gotten compliments on it and I am sorry I cannot be there to hear them! It was fun to make and for a special young lady, too!
